This was such a fun read, Sheila! The peplum goth outfit is awesome (probably my favourite of the week) - black and white with pink accents is such a great colour scheme for the summer and such a creative and effective way to style the top! I also love the Mom Day silk dress (the pattern mirroring! And silk LINING! Details are everything!) and the brooches on the puffer vest were also a weirdly specific favourite style move of yours this week.
I can fully relate to the determination to make a special piece work even if it isn’t a perfect fit (I think this is something that secondhand shopping forces us to practice 😂); that H&M skirt is clearly too good to pass up, and the peplum top that you created out of an oversized silhouette is probably way more stylish than it’s original un-belted form was.
Aw, you’re too kind, Maddy, thank you.💕 Details are my jam, and special attention gets my attention! I like that you noticed that I make things that aren’t quite perfect through the styling, thanks.
Details are so important and something I always pay attention to myself! You are genuinely so creative when it comes to stying, and I really do believe you could make anything work even if it seems nearly impossible to pull off! Such a great reminder that you don’t necessarily need to buy more to feel fashionable and updated, and a new styling trick can make all the difference (but sometimes it’s too much fun to resist a new-to-you piece all the same 😂)
I will certainly give anything a good shot, at least once! You never know when something will ring your bell. I love playing around with a garment and seeing how I can make it work. I definitely enjoy a new (or new-to-me) piece once in a while! (said the woman who just dashed out of the office to buy a new pair of sandals at the store across the street).
Hmmm...Goth...I think that's a state of mind rather than a state of being. So, if you felt Goth, you were definitely Goth! I love the Steampunk aesthetic but know I could never pull it off. You have to be taller than I am! That Marimekko skirt...I would do the exact same thing except I've never thought to do that! Genius, my friend, genius! The Proenza Schuler dress, though, doesn't have to tick any box because it is just fantabulous! I don't know if it's the colors or the reverse prints, but I love everything about it! Another very cool, very Sheila kinda week!
Woooow, I’m in love with the puffy orange vest, and the hand-painted Fluevogs, and the Uniqlo silk skirt, and the black taffeta skirt, and the “bad trip” necklace gifted from Logan, and the… 🔁🔁🔁
I don‘t quite know if it‘s goth because I‘ve never been goth but I definitely liked that you didn’t just wear black all over and instead still incorporated colours (lots of them and even in some bright shades!). So all of your outfits seem very wearable to me and that‘s (at least supposed to be) a compliment. - Lots of love to you and your cats
Pauline, that is such a good observation, thank you! I rarely do all black because I love colour too much. That is a huge compliment, thank you.💕 I aim to inspire.
Oh wow, so many great outfits. I love the Oska skirt. I've been looking for more skirt options for my wardrobe and you've given me plenty of inspiration.
My whole life I've been called a goth simply because I wear all black and have pale skin and dark hair. I've always listened to goth bands, but never really thought of myself as goth. I think it's because my style doesn't neatly fit the goth subculture.
But over the last couple of years I've started thinking, "You know what? Fine. I'll embrace it." So now my style goal is to become a hot old goth.
I *think* Corey is the name of the stylin' person who shows up every Saturday dressed in a colorful suit with all the accouterments. Could HE be the owner of John's Place? (she wonders aloud.) (yuh, Corey is not the same name as John, but still…)
So, goth? Hmm...my perception of Goth has always been lots of black (maybe with a white tee) along with dark makeup and black boots. So visually I cannot acquiesce to having seen lots of goth outfits in this post BUT if we're going with state-of-mind then absolutely I can agree you were wearing several goth outfits! I have come to conclude that a large part of how we 'are' in our daily outfits is related to how we feel. It almost doesn't matter how others see us; it's how we see ourselves. And you prove the point. :-)
As Maddy noted, the Mom Day silk dress is a winner! Besides the color, pattern and drape, I love that it is silk, having only just discovered the beauty of silk in warm weather. (I always associated silk with the sadly no longer in existence Winter Silks brand. They had the softest silks for layering under clothes.) Stay cool in what I'm guessing is going to be a hot day today! They are sweltering in Brussels!!!!!!
I love all your different interpretations of goth! As you said, goth is a state of mind, so I think every outfit counts ☺️ and I actually like that dragonfly blouse 🙈
“Goth is a state of mind” 😍😂 i looved this roundup of outifts & summer goth interpretation! The daisy bomber is so cool!!! And the h&m skirt! What a good find!
Having fully embraced a goth phase in the 80s I loved your goth interpretations (those boots 🖤 /- think you have a bit of mod in the mix there - love your posts (always creative with a side of fun!)
Sammy, I'm so glad you enjoyed this, especially as a REAL Goth (unlike me, the wannabe!). Yes, I definitely have some mod in my style DNA - I love bold, clean patterns and colours. Thank you so much for your very kind comment; I so appreciate you being here.
I have a tendency to more fitted outfits - at 5' I would look like I was wearing someone else's clothes and be overwhelmed by some of the outfits you love! ☺️ But I definitely am with you on the Sheila thing and creating my own style - from one Sheila to another!

Right, Marsha? That’s what I said! 😁 Never say never—I think you would really enjoy trying steampunk!
Glad my skirt hack resonated! Thanks so much!

Thanks, Ang! It’s a weird collection but it suits me! I do not know what this means: 🔁🔁🔁
On loop! I kept finding more pieces of yours to admire, you had a good run this week 😉
Ha, a new one! Thanks, honey.🥰

Thank you so much, Sophie! I love a bigass skirt with character! You’re proof that goth is more a state of mind than how we dress!
Goth Crones, here we come! 🤘
Pink shoes, calm boy, and sexy boy are purrfect! 👠😻
Thank you, Pamela!💕

Yes, that is Corey, but he is not John nor is he the owner. I’ve met John a couple of times.
Right? That’s exactly my point. I am goth at heart, but I can wear whatever I want. I do wear a lot of eyeliner.😜
Silk long underwear and layers are the best! I still wear a silk top when it’s freezing out.
Sending cool ocean vibes!
Love the daisy 🌼 goth. Entertaining as ever.
Thank you, my dear friend.💕
Summer Goth is such a great concept! And loving that Proenza dress on you. RIP Barneys!
So glad you’re on board, I expect lots of black eyeliner, Martin! I never got to visit Barney’s on any of my trips to NYC.
It was such a special place. I’ll never get over it. 😭
I love all your different interpretations of goth! As you said, goth is a state of mind, so I think every outfit counts ☺️ and I actually like that dragonfly blouse 🙈
It’s yours if you want it, Maria! 💕
“Goth is a state of mind” 😍😂 i looved this roundup of outifts & summer goth interpretation! The daisy bomber is so cool!!! And the h&m skirt! What a good find!
Thank you so much, Merve! Those are two of my favourite pieces. 💕
I’m loving Full Pirate Mode. 🏴☠️
Yarr! I hope you indulge your inner pirate, Janet!🏴☠️

One of the things you do so well is mixing shapes and textures. I need more weird volume in my life! (That’s a pea dress reference. What a cool shape)
Aw, thank you, Cheryl! I’m a fan of weird in general!
I love the term “summer goth!” And of course your daisies and the losing my religion blouse. So fun and very Lestat 🧛♀️
It’s a nice change from my usual Vampire Autumn! 😁 Thanks so much, Fawnia! We’re on the same wavelength!
Love it and yes we are! Sometimes I just want to wear black when it’s like sunny and 90 degrees out! I guess I’m a NYer too
NY goth, yesss , girl!🤘
